FAQs
Please find below a set of frequently asked questions about interior design projects. If you still have questions, please get in touch with us.
How much does an interior design project cost?
It depends what type of project it is, and the budget you are prepared to spend on furnishings etc. The design fee is provided to you in a proposal after an initial consultation, so there won’t be any nasty surprises. The proposal contains a clear scope of work - anything requested during the project that is not not included in the scope of work will be charged at the designer’s hourly rate.
What is a “design fee”?
The design fee is the cost of hiring an interior designer. This compensates the designer for their expertise and their time involved in working on the project - creating layouts, drawings, visualisations, sourcing materials. It also includes the other aspects such as project managing the install, if you’ve chosen to include that in your project.
Other costs such as the cost of hiring a joiner, decorator or electrician are dealt with separately. The design fee doesn’t include the cost of new furnishings, flooring, lights, appliances, accessories and art - these are all separate costs too.
How long does a project take?
Typically, a Small on-site project takes approximately 4 weeks to complete. However, this depends on how quickly you are able to respond to the plans and provide feedback or confirmation to move to the next step. The timeframe also depends on the lead time of the chosen materials and products, for example sofas typically take 8-12 weeks for delivery. It also depends on the availability of suitable reputable tradespeople required to complete the work.
A Medium on-site project may take 2-3 weeks longer due to the additional work involved.
A Large on-site project varies in timeframe depending on the requirements of the space and what other works are being provided by architects, tradespeople etc.
Is there a waiting list to start working with you?
Not a waiting list as such, we will be able to offer you a set start date after our initial consultation. This date will be included in the personalised proposal you receive from us. If the start date is too soon, we can re-schedule to a later date to suit you.
How do we start working with you?
The first step is to book an initial consultation over the phone or a video call. This is a review of the project goals, intended to assess the scope, the budget and timeline and advise on the project approach. It's also a good chance to see if we are the right interior design company for you and your project. After that we arrange a meeting in person and prepare a personalised proposal for you to review. Once this has been signed off, we can start the design process.
